Pool Closing for Hurricane Irene

posted Aug 25, 2011, 7:19 PM by Westwood Village

Hello Westwood Village Residents, below is a message we received from our Pool Management Company:

In preparation for Hurricane Irene we are going to take a number of measures over the next 24 hours to minimize potential damage to the pool and furniture, and safeguard the deck and its surroundings. We believe it is prudent to take action on Friday just before pool closing.

We realize that this may not maximize swimming time on Friday for the last hour and Saturday, but we are un-sure of how the weather on Saturday, August 27th.

First, we will instruct all staff to stack all deck chairs and lounges in small groups on the deck and next to buildings but away from windows were possible. We are also going to have the guards flip the tables over to protect them from the wind, and secure any loose items on the deck that may blow away or cause damages such as pool cleaning equipment or resident use equipment.  Once this process starts the pool will have to be closed.  We will be coordinating with our guard staff on what time this process should start so your pool is secure Friday evening.

Finally, we will be watching the forecast on the storm Saturday and Sunday.  For the staff’s personal protection we most likely will keep them home on Saturday.  If Irene moves out Sunday morning we will bring the guard staff in to put the pool back together.  Please make sure your residents know that the pool will open as quickly as possible but it may take some time.  If there are specific questions that you have regarding your facility please do not hesitate to call our office at 1-800-640-0062. Thank you for your understanding, and be safe tomorrow during the storm.

If at the open of business tomorrow morning, the forecast has changed, and it seems the storm will not affect your area, we will not start the process to prepare your pool.  Please let us know how you would like CPI to proceed at your facility. If you have any questions, concerns  or would like to speak with me directly please feel free to give me a call to discuss further.

Thanks
