Fall 2024 Updates and Reminders

EV Charging

Earlier this year, Westwood Village UOA was accepted into Fairfax County’s Charge Up Fairfax program. Since then, board members and interested residents have met with county engineers to determine the feasibility of installing EV chargers in the community.

After discussing options with them, and receiving a detailed report, the board has begun collecting bids from contractors to install two dual-port level 2 chargers in the unreserved parking spaces #201-204, located in the back of the community on Northern Neck Dr.

The original plan was to install only one charger, but adding a second charger is not that much more expensive than adding in the first, as the bulk of the cost comes from the initial installation of wiring.

We hope to finish installation by EoY.

Trunk or Treat

The board is happy to announce that we are hosting a Trunk or Treat event on Thursday, October 31st.

If you’re not familiar with the idea, basically residents can decorate their cars with some Halloween decor, open up their trunks, and hand out candy.

Participating residents can line their cars up in the back of the community on Northern Neck Dr.

If you are interested in attending as a trick or treater or as a trunk hoster, please email the board at board.westwoodvillage@gmail.com.

Visitor Parking

The board has received a number of complaints from the neighboring HOA about our residents using the visitor spots as a way to store a 3rd or 4th vehicle on the premises permanently. For now, the board simply asks that if you are one of the residents in question please help us solve this issue by moving your car into an unreserved parking spot.

The parking rules (posted on the website here) do not prohibit residents from parking in unreserved parking spots as long as they are displaying the visitor parking pass, “Any vehicle with a visitor parking permit may park in the unreserved general condominium parking spaces, which are on a ‘first come/first serve’ basis.” This information has been communicated directly to the towing company so there is no ambiguity.

This is a headache for the board and the board is not interested in dealing with this issue much longer as it has been going on for months. If these residents don’t move, we will be instituting a time-limit on visitor parking spot length of stay in coordination with the HOA, which means that it will be strictly enforced.

Building Keys

All residents are asked to please keep the key to the front door of their building on them when they leave their building. The call boxes are known to not function very well in the winter and we don’t want anyone getting locked out.

If you are in need of a new building key, please contact Peyton at peyton@capitolmanagementcorp.net.

Dog Waste

As always, please be kind to your neighbors and pick up your dog’s waste!

Sincerely,
Westwood Village Board of Directors
