Pet Reminder

Dear Residents,

The Property Management team and the Board have continued to receive increasing complaints regarding visible pet waste left on the common areas of the Westwood Village Condominium Community.

In Fairfax County, dog owners are legally required to promptly remove their dog’s waste from public areas.  This is a “pooper scooper” law, and failure to comply can result in a fine.  The fine for violating this law is a Class 4 Misdemeanor with a potential penalty of $250.

This Notice is to inform the residents of Westwood Village Condominium that if the complaints continue, the Board will take the following actions:

  • The Board, with the assistance of Property Management, will document observed violations and will proceed with fining offenders of the Westwood Village UOA Bylaws and Fairfax County Ordinances.
  • The Board will put forward a motion to increase the annual condominium fee for residents with pets, or take other actions, as afforded in the UOA bylaws, to help de-fray the additional costs being incurred by Property Management to address the pet waste.

HOW CAN YOU HELP:

In order to keep your community clean and beautiful, as well as maintain property values, the attention of every resident in addressing this problem is requested.  Residents are strongly urged to immediately report all violations through the Westwood Village UOA website by making use of the Report an Issue / Ask a Question form (at www.westwoodvillageuoa.com).

We thank you for your attention to this important matter.

As a reminder, pet waste stations are conveniently located throughout the community.  Each is equipped with bags and a lidded trash cash.

-Respectfully,

Westwood Village UOA Board of Directors
